AniMat Crazy Animation Cast: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022)
Story
Four children on their home planet make a mysterious discovery that leaves them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in Skeleton Crew; and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains the young Neil siblings is the same Chewbacca family clock from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).
Skeleton Crew is a television series for kids
And that’s a good thing, because Star Wars has often been kid-friendly, and why shouldn’t there be Star Wars-themed shows for kids? But it’s not an adult-friendly show about kids like Stranger Things or Paper Girls. It’s more like a show designed specifically to appeal to 10-somethings and no one else.
Skeleton Crew starts out in the suburbs
It’s the suburbs of the Star Wars universe, but take away the robots and aliens and I could grow up here. So it was an interesting twist for a moment or two. Unfortunately, these suburbs are populated by boring characters with uninteresting problems.
That’s all I watched
And yes, it all builds up to the big moment at the end of the first episode, but I found the first episode so boring that halfway through I just started skipping ahead and even in the last act I was like, hmmm, will it get better when Jude Law shows up? Maybe. But I feel like if the first episode of a series is so boring that I can’t stand it, it’s probably not going to get better anytime soon.
