Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases, so they can drill for oil and gas
Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights in order to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, housing for the workers (man camp), assemble the drilling machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations.

They are also, in part, troubleshooters, problem-solvers, and facilitators. I should start off by saying that I am a huge fan of just about everything having to do with Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, 1883, Tulsa King, Lioness, Sicario, Hell or Highwater, Wind River, etc.).
It is another hit for Sheridan
He hits one home run after another and Landman is no exception. Landman is set in modern day Texas where everyone from billionaires to thugs are trying to get rich in the oil industry.
This series follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) as he tries to take his company to the top during the oil fuel boom
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good new series to watch, especially if you are a fan of Taylor Sheridan.
