Get your fill happily
Story
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family compete to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest, judged by Derrick, director of fan engagement. -Following this year’s series of romantic holiday-themed movies to watch from the comfort of your home. The film was shot in the historical Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like this year-round.
Also, I’m not a Chiefs fan
The locations that housed the Higman Family Store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ Restaurant are also family-owned stores in real life. The square is also illuminated with Christmas lights, just like in the movie. There was too much hype for this movie, including “live”; updates at each film’s commercial break before.
I loved this movie
To me they are the current evil empire of the NFL. (Actually, they have some very prominent players, and I use the term evil as a hyperbole.) But I’m back to my obsession with watching every Christmas movie premiere on at least 5 channels. It was different enough from the norm and there might have been snow, but there were no snow fights or many of the other items on the Christmas movie checklist.
Hynes was his usual steady but relaxed self
Tyler Hains and Hunter King have very good chemistry, almost what I call sizzling at times. The story first captivated me with the quest to win the fan contest, and then I looked at the end of the obstacle near the end. I thought the acting was a bit of a mixed bag.
That being said, I had mixed feelings about the ending, especially after the build up to the story
The character of the king had attractive qualities, but he also had certain neuroses, especially his total obsession with superstition. (I realize these feelings are somewhat conflicted.) Like I said, I’m not a Chiefs fan, so I didn’t recognize many of the episodes, but there seemed to be a few.
