A remake of Emmanuelle (1974)
Story
It follows a woman and a series of erotic fantasies that she entertains. The project was announced at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2022.
Furthermore, the script is almost laughable and the dialogue even more so
Aesthetically beautiful. No actions or words are believable, and therefore it is detached from the audience.
I’m not quite sure what happened to the sound, were all the lines redone in post-production?
The end result is very flat and takes away the piquancy that you would expect from a great actress like Noemie Merlant. On that basis, the entire cast is impressive in that they give their best to an empty shell.
I barely managed it
A dozen people left the room during the film, after the first 10 minutes. I fought to stay inside myself, out of respect for the cast and crew (Naomi Watts is such a good actress) and the cinematography.
The ending delivers nothing
I withdrew my candidacy because I was deeply disturbed that a 2024 version of a famous 1974 erotic title was being painted onto a film that in no way reflects the progress of feminism and women’s joy.
